RELEASE AND STRIP CARGOES


Local Documentation Requirements to release and strip cargoes


1. Authorization letter to release and strip cargoes in case the request if from consignee

Any authorization for release and/or strip must be presented before MSC Bolivia Ltda. by the consignee manifested in the Bill of Lading (B/L).

 
However, the consignee has the possibility of authorizing a third party for the release/strip request. If this is the case, you must complete the authorization letter to the third party (Download the letter Autorización Terceros) in order to delegate in writing the responsibility of the request of release/strip of your cargo to the given company.
 
This company, on its own, will proceed to request to the shipping company the same, according to the following format (Download the letter Solicitud de Autorización).
 
Content and order of the paragraphs must not be modified.
  

It must contain:

 

  • Company letterhead, signature, signature clarification and company seal
  • General data company or consignee
  • Letter must be completed, filling-in all the required information as requested

 

2. Original BL

  • Surrender one original MSC BL or the original house BL either to our MSC Bolivia office in
    La Paz – Bolivia or to MSC Arica in Chile. It is mandatory to proceed with your requirements. The document will be kept by the receiving agency.

 

3. Copy of the invoice for the concept "Servicio de Administración y Mantención de Contenedores" 

Starting Monday September 10th, the deposits of guarantee in cash, will be replaced by a fixed amount called “Servicio de Administración y Mantención de Contenedores” that sums Bs. 450.- (four hundred and fifty 00/100 Bolivianos). This amount includes the USD 13 that is paid now at our agencies in Arica and Iquique, giving coverage for damages and clean-up to an amount of USD 300.
 
 
This new amount will be paid directly by the import company, consignee in Bolivia at any branch of Banco Bisa in Bolivia in the account no: 577 840 016. This cost will be invoiced immediately at the bank.
 
 
The copy of the invoice for the payment named “Servicio de Administración y Mantención de Contenedores” must be presented with the rest of the documentation to the shipping company.

What does Release Cargo mean?

It means delivering the sealed container at port to the owner of the goods or his representative once submitted the documents and fullfilling the requirements of the shipping line,  to later be committed to Bolivia. The merchandise is delivered by Customs interchangeably is declared under "Transit to Bolivia," or under Supreme Decree No. 25,947.


What does Strip Cargo mean?


Once you have completed the requirements of the shipping line, the sealed container is delivered to the port premises to the owner of the goods or his representative, responsible for coordinating the removal of their goods from the container for later transfer the cargo to Bolivian territory. This merchandise, to be declared under "Transit to Bolivia" must necessarily be carried to Bolvia. In the case of the deconsolidation, does not apply the Supreme Decree No. 25,947 because it is not possible make direct dispatches.
