Reminder correct manifestation of consignees for all cargo to Canada
MSC wishes to remind clients about the requirements of the Canadian Customs for the manifestation of real consignees for all cargo with destination Canada.
Each B/L must manifest a real consignee at the port of discharge, always and whenever this is not an NVOCC (Non Vessel Operating Carrier), considering the following:
• If the consignee is a Forwarder, enter a second shipping instruction with the data from the house B/L. In the field “Commentary” of the shipping instruction indicate which corresponds to the master B/L and which to the house B/L.
• If the consignee is manifested TO ORDER, the notify must reflect the data of the final receiver at the port of discharge.
• If the consignee is a NVOCC you must indicate not through a second shipping instruction, the complete name of the NOVCC company and the SCAC CODE, this is in order to be identified in the system and then be authorized the transmission of information to the Canadian Customs.
The omission of any information required previously will generate an observation that can be mended with a corrector shipping instruction that will include the missing information with a cost of USD 55 and cargo will also be retained at any transshipment port, which will generate a fine of USD 60 per container for all units under this situation.
